Kurahashi & Associates, Inc. (KAI) is a certified minority and emerging small business that provides full service planning and design. We offer our clients expertise in civil engineering, water resource engineering, environmental services, landscape architecture, planning, surveying and construction management. Founded on October 25, 1993 with eight employees, KAI has grown steadily and provided several million dollars worth of services to both public and private sector clients.

KAI's success lies in its ability to meet our clients needs with project designs that are holistic, environmentally sensitive, cost-effective, and easy to construct. Our interdisciplinary approach to problem solving allows us to provide our clients with a broad range of in-house expertise. Furthermore, our ability to assign the appropriate person to any given task, at any given moment, results in the efficiency and cost effectiveness which ultimately benefits our clients.

KAI has experience in working with most jurisdictions in the Portland Metropolitan Area. In turn, we have developed an understanding of the often complex process necessary to facilitate pubic hearing, review, and permitting required by the various Federal, State, and Local agencies.

Transportation and Transit Design Services:
Transportation engineering covers the full-range of services from agency and public meeting coordination to right-of-way negotiations with land owners, preliminary site planning, preparation of final contract documents, survey confirmation of final grade and elevation, and construction inspection. ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

Kurahashi & Associates, Inc. understands the opportunities and constraints that arise from natural resource issues. In a regulatory climate that is becoming increasingly restrictive and complicated, we strive to achieve a "no surprises" approach to regulatory compliance by engaging the agencies as early as possible to identify the issues that could impact the feasibility of a project. Natural Resources takes a lead role on projects that are centered around natural resource issues. Such projects can include ecological restoration and enhancement, stream bioengineering, wetland permitting and mitigation design, natural resource planning, and environmental assessment.
